Business Objectives vs Employee Goals

Posted: March 9, 2016 by Robert Craven

“Are your business objectives aligned with your employee goals?”

That’s my question for you today.

Alignment is one of those ghastly management–speak words.

What it is about is:

1)      employees having a clearly defined set of goals and;

2)      why these are important to the company’s overall growth strategy.

At its simplest, this helps employees focus on the right things.

Who wouldn’t want this?

I’m going to let the question hang there rather than come up with a clever clogs answer. It is just so important to get your business objectives aligned with your employee goals.

ACTION

Make sure that your employees understand how their actions impact and influence the future growth and success of your organisation. So, the Big Question is, “How do you do that?”

WHAT NEXT?

Your HR strategy may not be at the top of your shopping list, but do you really need to have it sorted?

If people are so crucial to your business’ success (as we all know to be the case) then the answer is yes, it is vital to put time and effort into designing and rolling out the HR programme you need, in order to create the business and working environment that you want.
